IPPC’s special report on climate change and land management this August lifted the lid on impacts detailing the already growing human pressure land is under, further exacerbated by climate change. This is the first time the majority of authors were from developing countries, at 53%.
Drastic action is required to reduce greenhouses gases from all sectors especially our land-food systems where agriculture contributes 23% of global CO2 emissions yet holds some of the greatest adaptation opportunities required to meet food security, bio-energy and soil/forest sequestration objectives. Feeding the world in a changing climate requires vital focus on sustainable and restorative land management.
