This survey is now closed.

In the Governing Instrument for the Green Climate Fund which was approved by the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), clause 3 of the Objectives and guiding principles section reads: “The Fund will pursue a country-driven approach and promote and strengthen engagement at the country level through effective involvement of relevant institutions and stakeholders.”

It’s becoming increasingly important for the GCF to ensure projects are aligned well with national priorities and to ensure there are the highest levels of commitment both during and post project implementation. This commitment is needed, as without it, sustainable positive change may not be a given. These projects are investments in a country – if there is a lack of country ownership, it is probable that ongoing change and leverageable results from the project may be compromised.
