Marcus Arcanjo

In a nutshell, tell us about yourself

I’m passionate about sustainable development and tackling climate change, and I’ve been working in these areas since finishing my MSc over three years ago.

I’ve previously worked to provide technical assistance to cities to help build urban climate resilience through the measurement and reporting of GHG emissions, and the development of climate action plans. I have also worked in a more research-driven, content-based role with the goal of making climate change more accessible to all audiences. My current role at E Co. provides me with the opportunity to do both!

Name three things on your bucket list:

  • Learn Portuguese. I’m half-Portuguese but, shamefully, don’t speak it!
  • Get a PhD
  • Run an ultramarathon

What’s the best holiday you’ve ever had?

A 10-day boat trip along the Norwegian coast, stopping at lots of small towns on the way. We travelled up into the Arctic Circle, even getting a small glimpse of the Northern Lights. Road tripping around New Zealand was also incredible.

When are you happiest?

When I’m struggling to get down a ski slope that I have no business even attempting. My enthusiasm definitely outweighs my ability.

What makes you laugh?

Peep show, The Office and The Thick of It. Anything laced with dry humour, sarcasm and self-deprecation.
